In 2007 the canning project was initiated AARAMA sat out to teach members of the Nakuru Kenya community the process of canning vegetables while pentiful in season are dependent upon weather conditions for sustainment.
During our return in 2008 we were able to open jars that were canned on our previous mission and enjoy the bounty of the process along with the community of Nakuru.
Because large communities have no electricity, preserving food can be difficult. People sometimes have only food for the day that it is purchased. Many go hungry when supply's are not available
The aim of the canning project is to ensure that food is always available. People that grow there own provisions can store food for leaner times.
The process is completed.
Sometimes it seems as if what we do is just a drop in the bucket, and maybe in the grand scheme of things it is. But then we are reminded that it is continuing to do what is right that makes the difference, for many drops make great rivers.
